Individual Horse Owners Liability
This policy is designed to provide coverage for bodily injury and/or property damage as well as legal costs if required. This type of insurance is commonly purchased by those who board their horses. In fact, many boarding facilities require it.
Those who own their own home may have some liability protection when the horse resides on their own property, but may not be covered if the horse is boarded at another property, or if one buys and sells more than a few horses per year. With this policy, you are protected from liability arising from bodily injury or property damage caused by your horse both on and off premises.
This policy provides equine liability insurance coverage for the horse owner
who is not involved in any other equine professional activity and does not operate
their horse ownership as a business.
Personal Horse Liability insurance for owners will cover up to five owned horses
on one policy.
Notes:
If you are involved in a commercial equine operation such as boarding, breeding,
training or instructions, you will need to purchase a Commercial Equine Liability
Policy.
This policy does not cover someone riding your horse. By mounting a horse, the
person inherently acknowledges the risks involved.

Race Horse Owners Liability (Race Horse Insurance)
Race horse owners face unique liability exposures for injury or damage. This
insurance covers liability exposure for owners of race horses including individuals,
partnerships, corporations, and syndicates that own racing stock but are not
directly involved in breeding, training, or racing (for example, contract with
independent trainers, breeding farms).
If you own or train race horses, this policy will provide race horse insurance
or liability insurance protection for bodily injury or property damage to others
caused by your horses.
